Dana Rizer

I've been a student of the body for the past fifteen years, and a food enthusiast since birth. My passion is to bring people together through practices that nourish the mind, body and heart.

 

YOGA

I'm a 500-hour E-RYT, with over 1000 hours of professional training and assisting logged onto my yoga mat. I study a range of movement practices from Iyengar Yoga to Yin, Nosara Yoga Therapeutics to Vinyasa Flow. Perhaps most of all, I'm inspired by random acts of dance party.

 

I regularly teach alignment-based flow classes and Yin Yoga workshops in my home base of Los Angeles. Once a year, I co-teach the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the founders of the Nosara Yoga Institute, Don and Amba Stapleton. I travel as often as possible, and lead retreats and workshops nationally and worldwide. 

 

FOOD

I believe as much in the healing power of a good meal shared in good company as in a sweat-soaked yoga practice: each has the power to expand consciousness, increase connection, and feed the heart. 

 

My formal studies began with a Master's degree in Food Studies from New York University, and a 617-hour chef certification through The Natural Gourmet Institute of Health and Culinary Arts.

 

My education continues daily, as the managing director of the nonprofit, Groceryships. At Groceryships, our mission is to increase the overall health and wellness of low-income communities in South LA through the creation of food-focused educational support groups, and by increasing access to fresh produce.
